Welcome to the Lodge of Progress 8259

Welcome to the Official Website of the Lodge of Progress 8259

Based in Chester-le-Street, County Durham (UK) we are one of six Craft Lodges that meet from our purpose built Masonic Hall. We are just a few miles from Beamish Museum which features the only Masonic Hall in the country open to the public seven days a week. The facade of the hall was transported brick by brick from Sunderland and re-created on the Museum site.

Lodge Secretary for Lodge of Progress, Paul Black, can be contacted using the contact page on this site. Our website contains a great deal of information regarding our Lodge and wider Freemasonry, please feel free to browse through its contents.

Our values are centred around four pillars – Integrity, Respect, Friendship and Charity.

A reminder to members that the Provincial Gazette is now delivered to your door each quarter so it is vital that you keep your Lodge Secretary informed of any changes to your postal as well as email addresses.

Aaron Holmes, Secretary.

WBro Tom Moffat, MBE (1930 – 2024)

It is with deep sorrow that we advise of the passing of WBro Tom Moffat, who died during the early hours of 24th December 2024. Tom was a co-founding member of our Lodge and he will be deeply missed by all concerned. The WM extends his condolences to Keith and the rest of the family at this very say time.

WBro Ronnie Fraser – Worshipful Master

Our March 2025 meeting saw the installation of our newest Worshipful Master, Ronnie Fraser witnessed by the representative of the Provincial Grand Master, WBro Lt. Col. John Henry, ProvSGW.

We are a thriving Lodge. Are you missing something in your life or your masonry? Why not visit or join our Lodge and see what is different about us.
